Flood situation in Pontian improves, last shelter closed

JOHOR BAHRU, May 6 (Bernama) — The final remaining momentary flood aid centre (PPS) within the Pontian district was closed this night after the floodwaters receded.

The Pontian District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) secretariat, in a press release, stated the PPS at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Melayu Raya, which had housed 19 people from 4 households from Kampung Sri Segambut, was closed at 5 pm at present.

“The last PPS was closed after the floodwaters receded completely today,” the assertion stated.

On May 4, steady heavy rain which began at 5.30 am brought about homes in Kampung Sri Segambut, Kampung Jasa Sepakat and Kampung Bukit Panjang to be flooded, leading to 168 people from 31 households being relocated.
