Child allegedly taken, woman left with life-threatening injuries on the Gold Coast

A man has been charged after a woman’s baby was allegedly taken from her and she was left with life-threatening injuries during an incident on the northern Gold Coast.
Police were called to an apartment in Como Crescent at Southport just after 5pm yesterday, where they found a 25-year-old woman unresponsive and suffering life-threatening injuries.

She was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.

An Amber Alert was issued after her 11-month-old son was allegedly taken from the apartment.

The child was found safe and well around midnight when he was taken to Crestmead police station.

A 34-year-old Crestmead man, who was arrested in Oxley shortly after 12.30am, has since been charged over the incident.

He has been remanded to appear before the Richlands Magistrates Court tomorrow on charges including grievous bodily harm and strangulation.

Police have seized a grey Mazda CX9 as part of the investigation.
