Boris Johnson’s weak grip on his parliamentary party laid bare by Partygate vote

Thursday’s determination to topic Boris Johnson to a House of Commons investigation over Partygate has revealed the weak point of his grip on the Conservative parliamentary get together and revived questions on his future as prime minister. Labour’s movement on the inquiry handed and not using a vote after authorities whips threw within the towel, telling Conservative MPs they have been free to help it or just to go house.

Among these Tories who remained within the chamber for the talk, few voiced help for the prime minister and a few took the chance to inform him it was time to go. Johnson was not at Westminster however 4,000 miles away in India, including to his MPs’ sense of being deserted.
