Choreographer and dance director Amy Campbell has constructed her profession on
industrial choreography, amongst different issues taking care of the dance factor in a musical as huge as Hamilton.
Leap is her first unique present, begin to end, and it illustrates each what she has discovered and what could also be to come back. She definitely is aware of please a crowd.
Leap attracted a younger viewers who whooped and shrieked their approval from the second it started. The louder the music and quicker the dance, the happier they have been. Her fashion is acrobatic and demanding of her dancers, who’re impressively energetic within the assault they put into one quick and livid sequence after one other for over an hour.
But as time goes on, it’s apparent that Campbell has introduced collectively 10
performers who’ve their specialties.
We see particular person celebration tips again and again, and although they’re thrilling – turning jumps and rolling falls, quick somersaults and backbends, enormous leaps and twirling spins – they change into repetitive. Original creativity is lacking.
